Santol from Philippines

My younger sister brought me santol today from her friend's house. It taste so sweet that i want to eat the whole seeds but its so big that i'm afraid to choke (hehe). It's many years passed that i haven't tasted this fruit. It's because when it's in season i am not here in our place, I am somewhere away from home.

The Santol is believed native to former Indochina and Peninsular Malaysia, and to have been introduced into India, Borneo, Indonesia, the Moluccas, Mauritius, and the Philippines where it has become naturalized. It is commonly cultivated throughout these regions and the fruits are seasonally abundant in the local markets. It's called wild mangosteen in English.

The ripe fruits are harvested by climbing the tree and plucking by hand, alternatively a long stick with a forked end may be used to twist the fruits off. It is eaten raw and plain or with spices added. Santol seeds are inedible and may cause complications such as intestinal perforation if swallowed.

For this weeks Love Q

We all know that different people have different perspectives over money. Some are pretty insecure and make it a point to try to account for every penny their partners spend. They insist on a joint account and money to be pooled together.
Then there are others who have this thinking that what is mine is mine and what is yours is yours. In other words, they maintain independent accounts although they may have an understanding of who pays for what.
There are certainly pros and cons to this issue. For instance, if you pool your money together, you are taking steps to save for the future. On the other hand, if you have separate accounts, there is not much pressure to account for money spent which may be better for the relationship as a whole.
For Love Q : let me pose this: Should you have a joint account with your partner? And should you keep tabs on what he or she may be spending on?
>>>It's better to have joint account because it shows the bind between the two but they should be responsible enough to spend money or decide spending on the right things.

Appearance When Dating

When we first start out on a relationship, we will usually try to look our best. We will think a little (or a lot) of what to wear, which perfume to put on and so on. After a while, though, when the excitement has died down and we start to get comfortable in the relationship, many tend to slack on their appearance.

Which brings me to Love Q:

Does appearance matter in a relationship? Should you always try to look your best for your date?
Its nice to look best anytime. For me, i am not "trying hard" when talking about looks. I usually wear anything that i am comfortable with and that is right to where is the venue on the said date, but i am more concern of the tidiness. And i agree that "simplicity is beauty".

Love and Time

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.

Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.

When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.

Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said, "Richness, can you take me with you?"Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."

Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!""I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.

Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you.""Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"

Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.

Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder,

Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?""It was Time," Knowledge answered."Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."

INTERESTING CONVERSATION

An Atheist Professor of Philosophy speaks to his Class on the Problem Science has with GOD, The ALMIGHTY.

He asks one of his New Christian Students to stand and . . .

Professor : You are a Christian, aren't you, son ?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor : So you Believe in GOD ?
Student : Absolutely, sir. Professor : Is GOD Good ?
Student : Sure.
Professor : Is GOD ALL - POWERFUL ?
Student : Yes.
Professor : My Brother died of Cancer even though he Prayed to GOD to Heal him. Most of us would attempt to Help Others who are ill. But GOD didn't. How is this GOD Good then ? Hmm ?

( Student is silent )

Professor : You can't answer, can you ?
Let's start again, Young Fella. Is GOD Good ?
Student : Yes.
Professor : Is Satan good ?
Student : No.
Professor : Where does Satan come from ?
Student : From . . . GOD . . .
Professor : That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this World ?
Student : Yes.
Professor : Evil is everywhere, isn't it ? And GOD did make Everything. Correct ?
Student : Yes. Professor : So who created evil ?
( Student does not answer )
Professor : Is there Sickness ? Immorality ? Hatred ? Ugliness ? All these terrible things exist in the World, don't they ?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor : So, who Created them ?

( Student has no answer )

Professor : Science says you have 5 Senses you use to Identify and Observe the World around you. Tell me, son . . . Have you ever Seen GOD ?
Student : No, sir.
Professor : Tell us if you have ever Heard your GOD ?
Student : No , sir.
Professor : Have you ever Felt your GOD, Tasted your GOD, Smelt your GOD ? Have you ever had any Sensory Perception of GOD for that matter ?
Student : No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.
Professor : Yet you still Believe in HIM ?
Student : Yes.
Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your GOD doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son ?
Student : Nothing. I only have my Faith.
Professor : Yes. Faith. And that is the Problem Science has.
Student : Professor, is there such a thing as Heat ?
Professor : Yes.
Student : And is there such a thing as Cold ?
Professor : Yes.
Student : No sir. There isn't.

( The Lecture Theatre becomes very quiet with this turn of events )

Student : Sir, you can have Lots of Heat, even More Heat, Superheat, Mega Heat, White Heat, a Little Heat or No Heat. But we don't have anything called Cold. We can hit 458 Degrees below Zero which is No Heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as Cold. Cold is only a Word we use to describe the Absence of Heat. We cannot Measure Cold. Heat is Energy. Cold is Not the Opposite of Heat, sir, just the Absence of it.

( There is Pin - Drop Silence in the Lecture Theatre )

Student : What about Darkness, Professor ? Is there such a thing as Darkness ?
Professor : Yes. What is Night if there isn't Darkness ?
Student : You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the Absence of Something. You can have Low Light, Normal Light , Bright Light, Flashing Light . . . But if you have No Light Constantly, you have Nothing and it's called Darkness, isn't it ? In reality, Darkness isn't. If it is, were you would be able to make Darkness Darker, wouldn't you ?
Professor : So what is the point you are making, Young Man ?
Student : Sir, my point is your Philosophical Premise is Flawed.
Professor : Flawed ? Can you explain how ?
Student : Sir, you are working on the Premise of Duality. You argue there is Life and then there is Death, a Good GOD and a Bad GOD. You are viewing the Concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can't even explain a Thought. It uses Electricity and Magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view Death as the Opposite of Life is to be ignorant of the fact that Death cannot exist as a Substantive Thing. Death is Not the Opposite of Life : just the Absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you Teach your Students that they Evolved from a Monkey ?
Professor : If you are referring to the Natural Evolutionary Process, yes, of course, I do.
Student : Have you ever observed Evolution with your own eyes, sir ?

( The Professor shakes his head with a Smile, beginning to realize where the Argument is going )

Student : Since no one has ever observed the Process of Evolution at work and cannot even prove that this Process is an On - Going Endeavor, are you not Teaching your Opinion, sir ? Are you not a Scientist but a Preacher ?

( The Class is in Uproar )

Student : Is there anyone in the Class who has ever Seen the Professor's Brain?

(The Class breaks out into Laughter )

Student : Is there anyone here who has ever Heard the Professor's Brain, Felt it, Touched or Smelt it ? . . .No one appears to have done so. So, according to the Established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have No Brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then Trust your Lectures, sir?

(The Room is Silent. The Professor stares at the Student, his face unfathomable)

Professor: I guess you'll have to take them on Faith, son.
Student : That is it sir . . .the Link between Man & GOD is FAITH. That is all that Keeps Things Moving & Alive.

I believe you have enjoyed the Conversation . . . and if so . . . you'll probably want your Friends / Colleagues to enjoy the same . . . won't you? . . . Forward them to Increase their Knowledge . . . or FAITH

It turned out later that the student is Albert Einstein

"The purpose of life is a life of purpose."

Cheating on your partner - Should you confess?

Nowadays, having extra-marital affairs is not something uncommon. Many people get involved with a third party at some point in their relationship and they would try to hide the affair from their partner.
But then there is always the feeling of guilt. And having two relationships at the same time just isn’t sustainable in the long term. So, if you break off the affair without your partner ever knowing that you have cheated, would you confess at some point?
Telling means hurting someone you care about with the ensuing distrust, grief and insecurity being felt by him or her. You may also lose the person in the process. Not telling means you are lying and not being fair to your partner when you should.

So, for Love Q :

If you have cheated on your partner, would you confess?
>>> this is kinda a very hard Q to answer. But for me if i cheated my partner in any way i prefer to say it coz im the kind of person that can't fight my conscience if i done something wrong, i need to let it out and say it to whoever i done wrong. But cheating is a very BIG NO for me. Why commit in relation if you just want to ruin it by cheating?

But if you are the one being cheated upon, would you prefer your partner to tell or not to tell?
>>> i prefer him to say it to me, it's better that i know the "cheating" and be hurt than being stupid and stay innocent about it. And its a way to work on something or do something about your relation with your partner, it's either to go on or to go out in that relationship.

Past Relationships

Some people go by the saying that honesty is the best policy. So, they would rather reveal everything to their partner upfront, including details of their past relationships.
On the other hand, others prefer to keep mum believing that there is little point in delving about the past as what is more important is the present and the future.
Would you want your partner to know how many people you have slept with in the past? Or how you have cheated on someone you once dated, for example? So, talking about your past relationships to your current partner can indeed be a difficult issue.
On to Love Q:

How frank should you be with your partner when it comes to your past relationships? How much of the details should you reveal?
>>> I really don't like digging on about the past. For me past is past and i am more concern in our relationship and on our future. But when my partner wants to know about my past relationships, i am very willing to tell him everything about it.

Story from Bukidnon

Just got home from the trip to Bukidnon. I'm deadly tired for the whole weekend travel. I expected to be just at Malaybalay City for the "pamalaye" as what my friend told me. But then, we end up at one remote baranggay of Pangantucan municipality.

From Iligan City we travelled 2 hours to Cagayan de Oro terminal at Bulua and went to Agora terminal because we can only take bus to Bukidnon from there. We arrived at Malaybalay City after more than 3 hours of travelled. And stayed at the aunt of my friend's cousin house for the night as planned.

And then the next day we woke up early as 5 am to get ready again for a trip to where we really need to go. We travelled for almost 3 hours from Malaybalay City to Pangantucan, and another 2 hours to the barangay where the girl's place for this "pamalaye" located.

And for this 2 hours of travel we only rode a single motorcycle for there's no other choice, their roads there are uncemented. I almost can't get out from the motorcycle when we arrived the place. My legs are shaking for the very long trip and because was not comfy riding motorcycle in a very rough road.

It was the very hard trip i ever had. I just thank God we got back home safely and the "pamalaye" went out fine. I promised myself that i won't ever go back there again. Even my friend said she's having a second thought of attending the wedding of her cousin this October.
