Special Holiday for Schools

Tomorrow, February 23, 2009 is a special holiday for all the public and private schools as declared by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. This is in observance of the 23rd anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution.

What is EDSA?

The People Power Revolution (also known as the EDSA Revolution and the Philippine Revolution of 1986) was a series of nonviolent and prayerful mass street demonstrations in the Philippines that occurred in 1986. It is sometimes referred to as the Yellow Revolution due to the presence of yellow ribbons during the arrival of Ninoy Aquino. These protests were the culmination of a long resistance by the people against the 20-year running authoritarian regime of then current president Ferdinand Marcos and made news headlines as "the revolution that surprised the world". The majority of the demonstrations took place at Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, known more commonly by its acronym EDSA, in Quezon City, Metropolitan Manila and involved over 200,000 Filipino civilians as well as several political, military, and religious figures, such as Jaime Cardinal Sin. The protests, fueled by a resistance and opposition of years of corrupt governance by Marcos, occurred from February 22 to 25 in 1986, when Marcos fled Malacañang Palace to the United States and conceded to Corazon Aquino as President of the Philippines.

Get together

I mentioned on my other post about the forum, the world of filipinas that i am one of the member. We had a get together last day, February 16, 2008. The members who attended the said get together were from cagayan de oro city and Iligan city. One member who is also from Iligan City go with me to Xavier Estates, Cagayan de oro, where the gathering was held. We had so much fun knowing each other and sharing opinions about the forum topics and many more. I found new friends in them, though we are friends online but is not the same when you see them in person. Here are some photos captured on that day.

Today is February 14 and I want to greet everybody a happy valentine's day. Let us fill our hearts with TRUE LOVE for it is the only one that can HEAL the WORLD.

Forum

I been a member of an online forum, the world of filipinas. I found new friends online and just yesterday i met one of the member at a mall here in Iligan City. We enjoyed our meeting, we talked about some topics on the forum and also about our planned get-together. We will be having our get-together at Cagayan de Oro City with the forum members from Iligan City and also with the other members who will be back from the States with their husbands. I hope that the weather will be good on the 16th so that we will have a successful meeting.
